The City of Easthampton is in the process of creating a Strategic Plan for the Downtown. The Easthampton Downtown Strategic Plan will provide strategies to enhance economic development opportunities in the Downtown and strengthen the Cottage Street and Union Street corridor as a commercial center and a creative heart of the community. The Plan will provide a coordinated vision for the Downtown and address redevelopment opportunities, reuse of the municipal assets, parking, and a tangible implementation strategy.
This Downtown Strategic Plan is being prepared by the City of Easthampton with the technical and planning assistance of a professional team led by Harriman, a planning and design consulting firm. The planning process will gather community input from several public workshops, charrettes and a Sounding Board comprised of representatives from the City, residents and area businesses.
The Plan will be a community-based vision for the future, assembled with the active engagement of residents, property owners, and businesses. This initiative will be another step in shaping the future of Easthampton as a contemporary, sustainable community that builds upon its recent economic development momentum and distinctive character.
This initiative is funded through the Planning Assistance Grant Program from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs and matching funds from the City’s Zoning Incentive Fund.
